Regional Education


FBU Officials and active members can, with the help and guidance of their Brigade Education Officers and Regional Education & Learning Organisers, apply for a range of short courses offered within their Region. Many of these courses are supported by tutors from the TUC Education Service who are familiar with the FBU and the UKFRS and working together on the course with Regional Officials. In addition, as appropriate, some courses may be organised and delivered with the direct assistance of Head Office or Regional Officials, especially those familiar with Discussion Leader’s & Education Methods.

Courses supported by TUC tutors are accredited within the TUC Education programme.

Some courses will be offered on a residential basis over two or three days and others will be run on a day, non-residential basis.

If you would like to attend any of the courses bellow, please contact your local Officials who will have the necessary information and application details.

UNION LEARN-TUC COURSES- These will be at Southampton City College

  •  TUIC Health & Safety Stage 1 – 10 fridays from 6th May 2011
  • TUC Next STeps for Health & Safety Reps Stage 2 – 4 x 2 day blocks 9th-10th June, 23rd-24th June, 7th-8th July, 21st-22nd July 2011
  • TUC Union Reps Stage 1  – 10 Thursdays from 5th May 2011
  • TUC Union Reps Stepping Up Stage 2 – 4 x 2 day blocks 5th-6th May, 19th-20th May, 9th-10th June, 23rd-24th June 2011
  • TUC Learning Reps Stage 1 – 11th-13th April and 9th-10th May 2011
  • TUC Learning Reps Stage 2 – 5 Thursdays (every other thursday) from 12th May 2011

UNION LEARN-TUC COURSES- These will be at Ruskin College, Oxford

  • Health & Safety Reps Stage 1 – 12 x Tuesdays from 20th September 2011
  • Health & Safety Reps Stage 2 – 12 x Thursdays from 22nd September 2011
  • TUC Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety – 36 x Wednesdays from 21st September 2011
  • Union Reps stage 1 – 12 x Mondays from 19th Septemebr 2011
  • Stepping Up/Advanced course for Union Reps – 12 x Wednesdays from 21st Septemebr 2011
  • Union Learning Representatives – 5 x Fridays from 30th September 2011
  • Union Learning Reps Stage 2 – 5 x Fridays from 10th June 2011
