NJC Employees’ Side Claim – Public Holiday Leave for Queen’s Jubilee
CIRCULAR 2012HOCOO37MW
17 January 2012
TO: ALL MEMBERS
Dear Brother / Sister
I have today written to the employers’ side of the NJC, seeking a public holiday in addition to those set out in the Grey Book.
The letter reads as follows :-
Dear Sarah
NJC EMPLOYEES’ SIDE CLAIM – PUBLIC HOLIDAY LEAVE FOR QUEEN’S JUBILEE
As you will be aware, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee takes place in 2012 and that a special bank holiday has been announced for 5 June 2012, and that in order to form a long weekend of celebration, the Spring bank holiday has been moved from its traditional place in late May to Monday 4 June.
This letter registers a claim for all uniformed fire service personnel for a public holiday to be granted in addition to those identified in Section 4C of the Scheme of Conditions of Service (Grey Book) for the midnight to midnight period on that date.
Our claim is that this additional public holiday shall be granted such that the provisions contained within the Grey Book concerning public holiday arrangements shall apply, subject also to there being no adverse application in relation to personnel working the retained duty system.
I trust that the employers’ side of the NJC would want all Grey Book employees to share in the award of this additional day’s leave, irrespective of their duty system or the days on which their rota days fall.
Should you wish to discuss this matter further please do not hesitate to call.
Yours sincerely
MATT WRACK
GENERAL SECRETARY
Members will recall that the employers’ side did not accede to a similar claim made last year in respect of the Royal Wedding. Members will be kept informed of any developments on this matter.
Best wishes.
Yours fraternally
MATT WRACK
