CIRCULAR     2011HOC0113MW
7 March 2011
TO:          ALL MEMBERS

Dear Brother/Sister

You will recall from circular 2011HOC0032MW that the Union has submitted a claim to the Employers’ side of the NJC for the same arrangements to apply in respect of the Bank Holiday declared by the Government for 29 April 2011 for the royal wedding as for other public holidays identified in the Grey Book.

The Employers’ side has responded stating that its view is that overtime shall be paid for those on duty but time off in lieu arrangements shall not apply to any Grey Book staff.

I have written today to the Employers side and stated that the double-time payment is welcome but that the Employers current position in respect of the time off in lieu is both mean-spirited and unacceptable.  A joint circular should follow shortly outlining the position.

We will continue to press for our reasonable claim to be met in full.

We are pleased to note that some Fire and Rescue Services have notified staff that normal arrangements will apply and we expect those FRSs to honour those promises.

I will keep members informed of developments.

Best wishes.

Yours fraternally
